Experience of a lifetime…

Offering two internships per trip

The idea for internships on our trips to Italy was inspired by a good friend whose daughter was interested in learning photography, filmmaking as well as further pursuing her artistic endeavours. She was taking art studies at university and wanted a fully immersive experience to augment her formal lessons.

After this initial request we did the research necessary to come up with a comprehensive curriculum covering the various activities that his daughter could undertake on our next trip once we could return to Italy.

This section is purely a rough outline of what one might expect as an intern with us. Each person is unique in their goals, desires and so on so it is necessary to first have in-depth conversations with individuals to determine what it is they want to learn that will help them chart a course for their future.

Building a portfolio

All resulting films and photographic work and artwork will serve as portfolio pieces for the intern. This program is also possibly eligible for university or college unassigned credits program, which can be determined by contacting the applicable institutes.

Contact us if you have an interest in our internship program and we will provide you with costs and details.

What will be included in the intern program

Included in the program costs are the following:

  • Accommodation for the chosen time period.

  • All groceries and daily meals at the residence including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  • Portion of car rental and gas.

  • Fully immersed training – includes hands-on involvement in all topics listed below.

  • Italian lessons as time permits.

What is not included:

  • Costs for restaurant meals and cafés are additional.

  • Airfares and personal expenses not included.

The underlying premise of this fully immersive option in design and photography is that the intern will be busy, exhausted and exhilarated – returning home with not only a much better idea of actual procedures in live shoots, filming and associated creative mediums but also with hands-on experience in a number of different areas. They should leave Italy with a full-on awareness of whether these fields are suitable for them as life pursuits.

General areas of specialty and learning

Each project would encompass learning about different aspects of storytelling whether it is video, film, or the written word.

Depending on the project-specific necessity, the intern will also have the opportunity to learn Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator as well as iMovie plus web design (platform specific - ie. Squarespace, Shopify).

The following is a synopsis of the overall categories in areas of specialty and learning:

  • cinematography

  • conceptualizing

  • creative writing

  • food styling

  • graphic design

  • illustration

  • Italian language

  • lighting

  • location scouting

*Please note that none of the topics or projects listed are mandatory for interns… if there are specific interests or certain avenues they would rather pursue we are open to them making their own choices and we will assist them in those endeavours.
