A lovely collection of handmade items – shipped directly from the artisans.

Uncommon Italy’s special collection from friends. From olive oil or wine, to handmade table linens…

Olive oil - the real deal

Most olive oil fans are aware of the scandals concerning export of supposedly extra virgin olive oil… It turned out that there was very little that was virginal in these dealings. Worse yet, not only were they not virgin oil, they weren’t even from Italy. Scandalous!

In an effort to ensure friends and clients can get olive oil that is exactly what it purports to be, we are now importing two oils - one from the fabulous Bichi Borghesi, 17th century estate and the other from Setriolo also made by a friend of Sophie Chamberlain. In fact Sophie helped her friend Suzanna with the harvest last fall and is shipping the oil herself - to North America. This golden elixir is produced in the Castellina in the Chianti region in the province of Siena, Italy and we will be visiting it on our next trip… video to follow.

Handmade kitchen and bed linens

We are currently in the process of building the linens section – which is also stocked primarily by Sophie Chamberlain who makes her own tablecloths, shopping bags, bed covers and cards – she creates linocuts for all of her prints and sews everything herself.

Sophie, who is also a guide has a lovely donkey by the name of Pan and two delightful horses – she lives in Tuscany and is a master chef as well as an accomplished artist.
